Autumn 1 Homework

Half-Termly Project

Please see below for the children's half-termly project based on out topic 'Out of this World'. This us due: Monday 19th October.

Week 7 Homework

Task to complete:

Draw the main character from your book. Make notes about why the character is important to your story.

Spelling rule for the week:

Irregular Past Tense

 

The children have been given 8 sentences, they must rewrite the sentences changing the tense i.e. if in past tense, rewrite in present tense. If in present tense, rewrite in past tense.

This week, I would like you to focus on your retrieval skills from non-fiction texts. I would like you to conduct some research (using books or the internet) to find out a few facts and information about the Moon. We will need these facts for our English work next week

Week 4 Homework

Using the book that you are currently reading, summarise the last paragraph you read using around 50 words.

- rounding numbers 

 

Spelling (due 7th October)

Spelling rule for the week:

Plurals - adding -s, -es and -ies.

The children have been given an online spelling quiz on Purple Mash. Children have been given their Purple Mash log ins.

Using the book that you are currently reading, find three interesting words and write a synonym for each.

Two activities set on Mathletics:

- place value to millions

- expanded notation 

 

Spelling (due 30th September)

This week we have begun to look at the statutory Year 5 and Year 6 words. We are looking at those connected to British Values. The children have a word search to complete to aid their recognition of these words. I have attached below a document detailing all the Year 5/6 spellings that the children should recognise by the end of Year 5 & 6.
