  • Forest school update

Fri 20 Dec 2024 Mrs Marr

KS2 have been very busy during the Autumn 24 term.  We have used our palm drills to build wonky conker cars using sticks, conkers and twine.

We have also been making friendship bracelets using needlework thread.  We were either making them in pairs twisting the thread in opposite directions or we were plaiting them.  We made some brilliant designs and we found it very therapeutic.

We tested out our fire building and lighting skills to cook our smores again.  We are definitely getting better at keeping our fire alight and the smores were delicious apparently.

Our last activity was making Christmas tree decorations and coasters using wood cookies.  We used acrylic paint pens, twine and various other decorations with amazing results!

Well done to all the children,  you have been amazing!

  • Forest school activity!

Thu 21 Nov 2024 Mrs Marr

    05.11

We finished building our wonky conky cars by putting a thin stick through body of car and then attaching conkers and then securing with knots.

    12.11

We used our knotting skills to build tripod shelters for our teddy bears.   We used clove hitch,  lashing and frapping to secure 3 sticks together then covered with sheets to provide a cosy den for the stuffies!

  • Lords Larder Donations

Thu 10 Oct 2024 Mrs Cahill

Thank you to everyone who has brought in donations to the Lords Larder this week.  We are looking forward to sharing these with the Gateway church knowing that this week we have been able to share our Harvest with our neighbours in our local community.

  • Forest School WB 30.09.24

Fri 04 Oct 2024 Mrs Marr

This week in forest school we have practised our fire lighting skills using our firepit.  Having previously spoken about fire safety and the fire triangle,  we used our flint and steel tools, tinder and kindling to light our fire.   We then roasted our marshmallows to eat which we then washed down with a drink.

  • Forest school returns!

Tue 17 Sep 2024 Mrs Marr

This week we settled back into forest school with a new group of children.   We started weeding the garden as the weeds seem to have taken over during the summer holidays.   It's going to take quite a while I think!   We also cleaned the fire pit so that it is ready to use next week.
