'The Hungry Tree' kitchen, based at Birchfield Community Primary School, provide a variety of freshly prepared nutritious meals for our children at St Gildas.  Each day there is a main, vegetarian and jacket potato option and a choice of two desserts, one of which is always fruit.  For those with special dietary requirements an alternative menu is available.

The meal is free for children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.  Children in receipt of Pupil Premium Funding are able to access hot meals in Key Stage 2.  Orders are taken in a three week cycle and must be placed for the full three week period.  Please check the newsletter for the availability of order forms and deadline dates for ordering.

A hot meal can be ordered for all children eligible for free school meals (FSM).  To be entitled to claim FSM the family must be in receipt of either:

• Income Support (IS)

• Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (IBJSA)

• Child Tax Credit - not in receipt of Working Tax Credit and annual joint income of less than £16,190 - as assessed by the Inland Revenue (April 2012)

• Employment Support Allowance (Income Related) (ESA (IR))

• Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
