MFL is taught to all Key Stage 2 children in St Gildas. From September 2024 we will be introducing French, this will start in Year 3 and each year another year group will start to learn French.

You do not have to do any of the Spanish activities or homework that I upload as we do not 'officially' have Spanish homework. The Spanish sounds: CI CE Ce Ci 'the' and 'thi' in Spanish from Spain. Put your tongue behind your front teeth! In Latin America and the West of Spain the sound is soft and makes a 'snakey' sound - 'se' and 'si. This clip is using the Latin American pronunciation. It is easier if you have lost your two front teeth See how many new Spanish words you can learn with Ce and Ci. Why not draw a picture and show me in class.

Spanish sound (digraph): ch This is a digraph (un dígrafo). What is a digraph? A digraph is made up of two letters that combine together to make one sound (phoneme). We have many in English and we also have some in Spanish. You need to remember these sounds.

Story: Gorgoé el árbol mágico de los océanos. Gorgoe the magical tree of the Oceans. This is a story about a village by the sea (somewhere in Latin America!) It has very little fresh water. One day the prince and his sister are exploring and go through a tunnel. They discover a beautiful tree, surrounded by flowers. Animals are drinking from the water. To their amazement, the water is fresh. The tree speaks to them and says it changes the salty water to fresh water by dropping leaves into the sea at night. The leaves collect the salt and change into the flowers. The villagers don't believe the children at first but then soon discover their story is true. The fresh water saves their village. Then along comes an evil king and tries to take the tree away from them...You'll have to listen and watch the story to find out what happens! What do you think the message of this story is?

Concierto de Aranjuez - Pablo Sáinz Villegas
This is a beautiful piece of Classical Spanish guitar music composed by Joaquín Rodrigo and played here by Pablo Villegas.It is said it was inspired by his honeymoon to his wife Victoria in Aranjuez. Rodrigo described the concerto itself as capturing "the fragrance of magnolias, the singing of birds, and the gushing of fountains" in the gardens of Aranjuez. 26 minutes long. Enjoy/Disfrute
