Easter Holidays
Mon 30 Mar 2020Following guidance from the Government and the LA we will remain open over the Easter Holidays for the pupils who have been accessing the school since the closure. Only children who have been attending school for the last 2 weeks should be attending and Parents must tell school which days they require before coming. School will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday as a sign off respect to the Catholic Church. -
School Closures
Thu 26 Mar 2020Dear all,
Just a quick update. The school is still open for vulnerable children and children of key workers. If you think your child falls in to 1 of these groups please contact the school office. Whilst at school the children are taking part in a range of creative learning, this is not always linked to the National Curriculum. We are unable to 'teach' the children in school as the number of children varies and so do the ages.
The children in school would like to hear what children at home are getting up to so if you would like to email your class teacher with an update they can then share it with the staff in school.
We hope you are all staying safe but enjoying the sunshine. If we can do anything to help while you are at home please contact the class teachers or the school office.
Take care and stay safe
Alison Frost and all the staff

School closure
Sat 21 Mar 2020Big thanks to everyone for your help and support in our efforts to keep the school open for some children. If you haven’t contacted inclusion@educ.somerset.gov.uk requesting a place including your reasons, you must do this before Monday or we will be refusing entry. If you have received confirmation of a space then please follow the guidance in the letter. Please do not be offended by us asking your child to wash their hands on entry and we will be limiting the amount of people on the school site, so please only 1 person to bring each child into school. Remember non-school uniform is ok as we will be expecting clothes to be washed daily. Again please do not be offended if we mention this to you, it is recommended that all clothes are washed after being outside.
Hopefully this will not last as long as we are being told but we will keep you as up to date and informed as we can.
Take care and stay safe. God bless
Mrs Frost and all staff at St Gildas

Siblings
Fri 20 Mar 2020I am very sorry to some parents who I have spoken to this morning but I have received some clarification regarding siblings. At the moment we WILL NOT be able to accept siblings of children due to staffing numbers. I believe the plan is to eventually open school hubs and close most schools.
We will be reviewing staffing regularly and will keep families updated.
I am sorry for any difficulty this will cause for families but I have to prioritise the safety of my pupils and staff and minimise the risk to us all.

Please read this information and let the school know ASAP if you need a space. Please be patient as we will be reviewing each case individually to ensure we have enough staff to manage demand. If you have already let us know please confirm again.
A letter will be going out ASAP with further information regarding free school meals.
Take care everyone and God bless.

School closures
Wed 18 Mar 2020I’m sure you have already heard the news about the Government closing schools from Monday 23rd March. We will be clarifying the situation tomorrow regarding opening for vulnerable pupils and will be in touch tomorrow.
Please bear with us at this time of turbulence, we will get through this if we all work together with the children’s best interest and safety at the heart of our decisions.
God bless
Alison Frost
